levelooh is built on one idea: showing up is the product. Studios run their schedules, bookings and payments on the platform, but the heart of it is what members earn by walking through the door. XP, levels, streaks, leaderboard climbs, trophies, real rewards.
This blog is where we think out loud about that idea.
What we'll write about
- Gamification that respects people. The line between a reward loop that motivates and one that manipulates, and how we try to stay on the right side of it.
- Habit science, applied. What the research on anticipation, streaks and social proof actually says, and what it looks like once it ships as product decisions, like streaks without burnout.
- Running a studio. Retention, community, and the unglamorous operational details that decide whether members come back.
- Build notes. Occasional dispatches from the workshop: the design calls and trade-offs behind features like the XP ledger, tournaments and the Ladder.
Why in public?
Because the studios and members using levelooh are trusting us with something real: their motivation. The mechanics that shape it shouldn't be a black box. When we change how streaks count or how XP is earned, we'd rather explain the reasoning than hide it in a changelog.
Show up, level up. That goes for us too. This blog is our streak.
